The short version

CampusBusy provides public university occupancy and forecast information. Optional Google Analytics collection stays off until you accept it. The site does not enable advertising storage, advertising user data, personalised advertising, or Google Signals.

Who is responsible

The CampusBusy maintainer is responsible for the personal data described in this notice. Contact is available through the project issue tracker linked below.

What analytics records

If you accept, Google Analytics 4 records page views, approximate session and device information, navigation and outbound-link clicks, controls used, forecast and chart interactions, scroll and active-time milestones, browser error categories, and web performance measurements. CampusBusy deliberately does not send form values, exact geolocation, forecast input values, full query strings, error messages, names, or email addresses to Analytics.

Cookies and retention

CookiePurposeTypical duration
campusbusy_analytics_consentStores your accept or reject choice.1 year
_gaDistinguishes browsers for GA4 reporting after consent.Up to 2 years
_ga_*Maintains GA4 session state after consent.Up to 2 years

Google may process analytics data on CampusBusy’s behalf. Analytics retention must also be configured in the GA4 property; the recommended setting for this site is 14 months.

Why data is used

Consent is the lawful basis for optional analytics processing, and can be withdrawn at any time. Limited server request logs are processed for the legitimate interests of securing, diagnosing, and operating the service. Coordinates are processed only when requested to return a current-location arrival estimate.

Who receives data

Google processes consented analytics data as a service provider. Infrastructure and hosting providers may process limited request and operational data. Google and its subprocessors may process information outside the UK; Google describes its applicable transfer safeguards in its privacy and data-processing terms. CampusBusy does not sell this information.

Your choices

Rejecting analytics does not affect the site. Use Cookie settings in the footer to change your choice. Withdrawing consent blocks future Analytics events and attempts to remove GA cookies from this domain; it cannot delete information already received by Google.

Other browser data

Web servers necessarily receive request data such as IP address, timestamp, requested path, user agent, and response status for security and reliable operation. If you choose the current-location arrival feature, your browser requests permission and sends coordinates to CampusBusy only for that prediction; the coordinates are not sent to Google Analytics.

Your data rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time. Contact the maintainer to exercise a right. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
